Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week F/W 2013 - Street styling

With Toronto Fashion Week comes the inevitable hoard of fashion bloggers and street style photographers, all of whom scour the tents and front steps of David Pecaut Square for interesting outfits, people and celebrities. As annoying as Toronto's fashion people want to pretend these bloggers/photographers are, the reality is we all secretly love them and are almost never actually annoyed when they want to take our photograph. Pfff saying no to free press? I don't think so. Possible new readers/followers? Come on now. That's just stupid. So here are some photos of me taken by some of Canada's fashion blogs and magazines such as shedoesthecity.com, Indecent Xposure, MTV Flora, FASHION, FAJO, and FLARE Magazine.

Here's a shot from style and fashion blog shedoesthecity.com taken at the Holt Renfrew after party on Day 1 of WMCFW.  Just hanging with some of my big-time Toronto fashion media friends. You know, just chillin. The party was great! Wanna read more about it? Click here.

Day 2 was a blur... I think I was working on the Laura Siegel behind-the-scenes feature I wrote for the National Post that day so I didn't spend much time at the tents. The feature turned out really well (after all my bloody hard work....) and I got a chance to hang out backstage and catch all the last minute, heat-of-the-moment runway action. I even snagged a little video of our girl Laura when it was all over. Check it out here!

Day 3 was a fun day of live blogging for the National Post. I basically had to run around from show to show speed tweeting and posting ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. It was mad. But I quickly got the hang of things and started posting some pretty witty stuff. (I'm not a Twitter person.. like AT ALL... so I was pretty proud of myself when I got email props from my editors back at the Post) Anyway, while running around like a frantic fashion chicken sans tête I posed for FAJO Magazine and once again for shedoesthecity.com.

On Day 4 I caught the attention of several street style photographers with my "Bitch don't kill my vibe" tank from Brandy Melville. Thanks to Montreal's Indecent Xposure and FASHION magazine for the free press!

Day 5 was a blessing (YES IT WAS OVER! I COULD BREATHE AGAIN!) and a curse (NOOOO IT'S OVER WAHHHH! I HATE REAL LIFE). It was the last day of Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion week F/W 2013 and my entire wardrobe was sprawled out on the floor of my apartment. Sorry, but when your job is to get your Fash'On and strut around Fashion Week trying to look important, there is NO TIME for cleaning or putting away clothes. On Day 5 I was running out of outfit options... so I went with this one. MTV thought it was cute and grabbed a photo of me on my way to the Travis Taddeo show. They also asked me to be a part of their "Favourite Street-styler's mixtape". Pretty cool stuff.

That time I was in a magazine and didn't even know it ...X 2

Once upon a time (last January to be exact) I was wandering around the land of Facebook when I spotted an interesting post by my friend and favourite fashion photographer Jess Milan, creator of the fashion/food blog Lookbook Cookbook (LBCB). It was a photo of a two-page spread interview in Company Magazine UK. And guess whose stupid little face was plastered on it... Mine! Woah!?! I was in the February 2013 issue of a big UK fashion magazine!? Too cool! So obviously, I had to run out into the cold Toronto-winter streets in search of issues of Company mag for my parents and my super cute and always-proud-of-me Portuguese grandmother. After visits to 4 or 5 different magazine stores, I finally got my hands on it!

There I am!

AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN! This time in a Canadian magazine! I'm also in the September 2013 issue of Fashion Magazine thanks to another article about Lookbook Cookbook. How cute. Check it out ;)

There I am! Oh man that banana pop... I still dream about it <33

If your interested in reading the full article about fashion and food blogging you can find it here on Fashion Magazine's website.  I couldn't find the online version of the Company mag one but wtvs... you could always zoom in to read if you're really dying to..

Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2013 - street styling

Because I'm a big loser procrastinator and still haven't gotten my Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2013 reviews up (three month late...and still counting) I thought it would be nice to get these photos out there for those who care to see what I wore. This season, I was photographed by a few big name magazines for my fashion week outfits. So flattered. Take a look!

Pre-Fashion Week at The Collections - Day 2

Once the streetstyle photographers caught wind of the secret runway shows going on at The Burroughs Building on Queen West, they were all over that shit. Day 2 at The Collections was just like Toronto Fashion Week - street photographers everywhere. Here's a not-so-flattering photo of me courtesy of FASHION magazine. I'm the "and a Nirvana t-shirt" part of the headline (lol).

Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week begins - Day 1

I missed most of the first day due to boring stuff like school, seminars and lecture (pff education..) so I don't have any nice photographs of my full outfit. I did find this one of my fuzz clutch on thebrunettesfashion website.

Toronto Fashion Week - Day 2

My outfit was pretty popular with the press on Day 2. I guess the trick is to go big (big hat, big fuzz) or go home. Here are some photos featured on fashion blogs such as Thekit.com, etmoijejoue, psalms911, and the others were taken by photographers from FLARE magazine and Toronto Life.

Toronto Fashion Week - Day 3

Day 3 was another one of those I-have-to-sprint-over-after-class days so I only made it in time for the last two shows of the night. I did find a photo of my last-minute outfit on shedoesthecity.com. Thanks guys!

Toronto Fashion Week - Day 4

On Day 4 I boho-ed out in a super micro-mini lace dress from Urban Outfitters. It was so short I had to tape it to my thighs so I could walk around without mooning the entirety of the Canadian fashion population. Good times though. Here's a photo of me courtesy of FLARE magazine

Toronto Fashion Week - Day 5

By the time Day 5 came around I was fashion dead. My appartement was a mess - clothes, makeup and accessories EVERYWHERE and I was totally out of outfit ideas. I was exhausted and done with trying to look cute. So, I went for the dress. The dress is always an easy out. It's one article, it's fast, and it always looks good. Here are a few shots of me from BlogTO. and ELLE Canada's instagram.

Toronto Fashion Week F/W 2012 - It's overrrrrrr :(

Toronto Fashion Week was one long week of runway shows, interviews, writing, and chillzing with my fashion friends. It was a ton of work, but thinking back on it now, I really do miss all the fashiony stuff I got to do. I miss my media pass and the streetstyle photographers and the models, and all the clothes and the snobby fashion editors and the free makeup and awwwww I can't wait till next season!!!!

Runaway love and Naughty Mess for Hooters F/W 2012
Now that I've finally wrapped up all my fashion writing and reviews I can breathe again (only for a short while...but still. Breathing is nice). I will post a must have list of this season's runway trends soon soon but for now feel free to check out the runway accessory trend report and street style trend report I wrote for Dress To KILL magazine.

Also, my Day 5 outfit was pretty popular with the street style photographers. Here are some shots of me taken by Silhouetted Skyline, World of 4, FASHION mag, Curvy Geekery, Erich Deleeuw, Filler mag, and others.

(narcissism, narcissism, narcissism)

Levi's leather jacket, H&M tail top, AA high-waisted zipper shorts, orange neon bag, white thigh-high socks, Aldo floral wedges.

Toronto Fashion Week Day 3: Street stylin' once again

Fashion Week Day 3 was great. It was gorgeous and sunny out so I decided to whip out the orange accents. I wore one of my Zara tail shirts, carried around my neon orange leather clutch, wore my new black and orange beaded feather earrings and even put orange eyeshadow on (WOAH). Most people would have been like wtf? to the orange eye shadow idea but I thought I'd try it out and incredibly enough, it didn't look so bad. For the first time in several months I got the chance to wear some serious summer colours and it felt amazing! I also got street style snapped by FASHION magazine

And Silhouetted Skyline. Kinda look like a psycho here but wtvs.

Toronto Fashion Week F/W 2012 - busy busy girl

It's that time again! It's Fashion Week in the big city of TDOT and this time I'm not a lame volunteer (not that volunteers are lame ...they're great! and I give them a big smile and two thumbs up for being so amazing) I'm ACTUALLY working it! Ha! I'm covering Fashion Week for Ryerson Folio and Dress to Kill magazine. It's been a very busy week full of crazy artistic fashion and incredibly fashionable people. I had the chance to go backstage and interview designers like Adrian Wu and Canadian fashion celebrities like Stacey Mckenzie. I've done SO MUCH but I have yet to start writing about it. With school work and managing two school magazines, there's no time to ACTUALLY sit down and write my reviews. If I'm not sitting on a runway bench, I'm emailing like a crazy person or interview people for my 2,000 + word feature stories for class. So much writing to do, so little time... Hopefully I will get my shit together and have my review of Day 1 up later tonight. In the meantime here's a Streetstyle shot of the outfit I wore to Day 1 taken by FASHION magazine.

A Whole New Breed - 2012's new favourite model Andreji Pejic

Andrej Pejic is the newest and biggest thing in the modelling world and is gracing the cover of FASHION magazine's February 2012 issue. Last year Pejic walked in the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 couture show, stomped down numerous runways during New York Fashion Week last February and has worked with the likes of Steven Miesel and Juergen Teller - two of the biggest fashion photographers.

Due to what Gaultier dubbed Pejic's "out-worldly beauty", this Serbian-born Austarlian model has made himself known not only to the world of male modelling but to the female one as well. His extreme androgynous features have made it possible for him to be booked for countless female campaigns. His first big break in feminine-dress was in 2010, when Carine Roitfeld, the then editor-in-chief of French Vogue chose him to star as the lead model in an editorial shoot, where he was dressed in garments from Fendi's womens line. With that he was launched into the world of androgynous modelling. At just 19 years-old he had already modelled for Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, Paul Smith, Raf Simmons, and Comme Des Garçons.
